You’ll Need:
* large stick or branch
* paint
* paint brushes
* yarn or twine
* feathers and pinecones (optional)
Directions:
First you’ll need to find a large stick or a small branch. Look for dried out wood (not green) and make sure it is a comfortable size for your child. It should be a little higher than your child’s waist. Remove the bark and any little knots or side branches to make sure it is easy to grip.
Next let your child decorate his or her walking stick with paint. Once the paint dries it is ready for the first walk or hike. Bring some yarn or twine along, so your child can collect feathers and pinecones and attach them to the walking stick for an even more personal touch.
